Sounds of Joy Music Studio offers online piano and voice lessons for children, teens, and adults across the United States.
Founded by music teacher Rebecca Alderman, the studio focuses on joyful instruction, musical growth, and confidence-building in a supportive, faith-friendly environment.
Mission Statement
Sounds of Joy Music Studio seeks to engage students with their unique learning styles in a musical journey that is customized for their success.
When students struggle with math, reading, and developmental or minor behavioral challenges, engaging in music education is one answer to help them fulfill their greatest desire in a future career.
Adults engaging in music education overcome physical & cognitive impairment like arthritis, memory loss, and even vocal health issues.
Some students desire to play with a band on the church worship team, and we're here to help them do so with ease and humble confidence.
Music is a sport that lasts for a lifetime.
I had the privilege of having Rebecca as a music teacher when I was a teenager. She is very gifted not only as a musician but also as a teacher. She has so much impartation because of how well she blends her gifts to address the individual needs as well as the gifts of her students. I am very grateful for my time with her.

Vision
We create a "wonder" environment, igniting joy, removing fear, taking the mystery out of learning music, composing, recording, playing piano, singing, and sharing (presenting) beautiful music with others.
Learning to play an instrument, or use your vocal cords to sing, engaging with music they create, produces neuroplasticity, causing confidence and joy to rise from within.
Enhance lives as they become proficient in whatever school studies they need to accomplish their destiny, career goals through lessons, music activities, and daily home practice.
To ensure each student realizes their God-given ability to bring joy into any atmosphere through prayerfully presented music, no matter how novice or advanced their skills or what learning challenges they are overcoming.

Core Values
We are followers of Jesus Christ. We commit to follow, to the best of our current understanding, which is constantly growing through daily Bible Study, the fundamental values of the Bible-based Christian Faith. We believe Jesus died for our sins and rose again on the third day so that when we believe and accept Jesus as our personal Savior, we will spend eternity in heaven with Him.
We make sure that all music selections are clean, family-friendly, carrying the weight of Christian Biblical worldview values, and never defying any Christian values whatsoever. Music Selection is a healthy collaboration between parents, students, and me, as the teacher.
We're all about variety and adaptability. We learn through play, creativity, and exploration - but we also work hard to get better at music-making and develop life skills like grit, focus, determination, and resilience. We use innovative, customized, and/or specialty-developed curriculum to help each student experience real success when playing piano or through singing expression.
We believe anyone can learn to play or sing music when given a supportive environment and the right encouragement along the way! Lessons include uniquely designed online and in-person games to reinforce concepts learned.
Music should be fun and engaging even when the brain's neural canals are widening in the developing process to receive, retain, and retrieve coordinated hand/eye skills to read, play, notate, and/or compose music. This customization isn't just for upcoming pianists but also for our younger singers, teens, and adults desiring to learn vocal techniques.
Even advanced students may not have a pure concept of developing good, practice habits. Yet, it is vitally important every student (and parent) realize the continual progress they are making each week. Practice skills become part of weekly routines that train students in self-assessment as well as self-discipline, and above all, resilience.

Hello, I'm Mrs. Alderman
Your Voice & Piano Teacher
It is a pleasure working with all ages, 5+, in the miraculous realm of music. I especially enjoy working with students who have special challenges to overcome and watching the smiles sweep across their face at another successful experience. I'm excited to get to know you and your family better as you embark the incredible journey of producing music from your heart. Whether you are seeking to play piano for personal enjoyment or to worship God or coordinate playing with a band, sing with confidence or write songs to enjoy for years to come, I welcome you and look forward to getting started right away.
Just so you know, I've been singing and playing publicly, recording, songwriting, and even dabbled in publishing as well as teaching music for almost 40 years now. I am a Certified Voice Teacher Technician from the New York Vocal Training Teacher Certification program. I'll share more over on the Voice Lessons page. See you there!
Many of the families we serve are Christian and homeschool families who value encouragement, excellence, and Biblical principles.
